Oregano (Origanum vulgare) is a perennial herb found throughout the country. In Bulgaria, it is also known as forest tea, shepherd's basil, and "vitosha tea." Since ancient times, this herb has been renowned for its wide range of health-improving properties. The ancient Thracians used to throw sprigs of oregano into the hearth at night to ensure peaceful dreams, while the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates used it as an antiseptic for respiratory and digestive ailments. Today, dried oregano is often used in herbal pillows. It possesses antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiseptic, immunostimulating, and restorative properties.
The essential oil is obtained from the leaves and stalks via steam distillation. It has a sharp, herbal aroma and contains thymol and carvacrol, the compounds responsible for its potent antibacterial and antifungal properties. It assists in reducing and removing warts (when applied diluted with a carrier oil) and can be used on insect stings, such as from bees and wasps.
Directions for Use: For culinary purposes and aromatherapy.
Dietary Supplement: 1–2 drops twice daily on a sugar cube, a teaspoon of honey, or dissolved in 100–150 ml of water for up to 10 days.
Culinary Use: 1 drop added to meat dishes, dressings, or salads.
Warning: Not for internal use by small children or pregnant women!
Aromatherapy: The aroma helps soothe the nervous system after a busy day and restores mental balance. It balances oily and problematic skin. Used for oral hygiene and prophylaxis. It deodorizes and purifies the air, removing unpleasant odors.
Storage: Store in a dark, cool place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and ensure the bottle is tightly closed! Contraindications: Not for use by pregnant women, nursing mothers, children, or individuals with an intolerance to oregano oil. Attention! Highly concentrated! Perform a sensitivity test before use! In case of contact with eyes, rinse thoroughly with water! The product is not a medicinal drug. Do not use as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Contains no additives, harmful substances, or preservatives. Not diluted in carrier oil!
